San Francisco Giants: 2010 World Series Champions

What a week in Bay Area sports! For the first time in 54 years, since relocating from New York to San Francisco, the Giants captured the World Series title. The Giants are the first professional Bay Area sports franchise to bring home a championship title of any kind in more than 15 years. There is a palpable sense of excitement in the city of San Francisco over their achievement.

On Wednesday, November 3, 2010, San Francisco Giants threw the city a homecoming parade. Over 1.5 million people turned out to show their love, appreciation, and passion for their home baseball team. I think this might have been the largest gathering of people anywhere in America since President Obama’s inauguration! The amount of support shown for the Giants was truly remarkable.

Here is another blog, which provides an interesting perspective, on the festivities at the 2010 World Series victory parade. It is authored by veteran Bay Area sports journalist Ann Killion.

Here is a website with a great photo gallery showing all memorable moments from what was a truly phenomenal day for the San Francisco Giants and the entire Bay Area in general!

Enjoy everyone!
